Location

Butt Lane is situated in Newcastle under Lyme, North Staffordshire, England on the Staffordshire/Cheshire border. The main A34 trunk road runs right through the centre of the village and Butt Lane is one of the few small villages on this road (which runs from Southampton in the South to Manchester in the North) not to have a bypass built around it.

To the North and West of the village is the County border, to the South is the village of Talke and to the East is the town of Kidsgrove.

Along the Northerly edge of Butt Lane (at the Red Bull) runs the Trent and Mersey canal and to the North East (in Kidsgrove) is the junction with the Macclesfield canal.
